Dr. Healey: Thanks for your reply. I think you covered everything. It is too bad that most SLPs only focus on "technique" I especially liked the following 2 principles: #8 Clinicians need to spend as much time on helping PWS build more positive images of themselves and help them find ways to reduce the negative emotions and anxieties associated with stuttering. #9: help PWS find a way to speak in an easier way but with as much naturalness as possible. In other words, someone who stutters can display disfluencies or use strategies but do so in a way that doesn't call significant attention to the way the person is talking. What a person says is more important than how it is said thus we shouldn't have a goal of helping PWS have 100% fluency. #8 can be summarized as: Find ways to help the PWS inc. their self-esteem. And develope a positive image
