Hi Todd: Thanks for your comments and questions. I DO talk about these principles with clients and parents as needed. Although the intent of the principles is aimed at clinicians, a few of the principles have important messages to parents and clients. I wouldn't hesitate to give them a copy of my paper but mostly in the past, I just talk about it with clients or parents because they don't need all that extra "stuff" that I discuss in the article. My list of principles would have been different if I wrote this several years ago as I was much more into working mainly on the speech system to have the client achieve more fluency. In fact, I wasn't a fan of stuttering modification techniques years ago but I certainly am now. I didn't deal a lot with emotions or cognitive restructuring but those are important pieces to the therapy I do now. So, yes, my thinking has changed a lot over the years about how to treat this problem and what I have developed in this paper is my current thinking but even these might change with additional years of learning from clients and my continued learning about this disorder...Principle #7.
