I began grad school this past August and have begun working with clients. I have not, however, had an opportunity to work with a person with a fluency disorder. I am aprehensive about this because I feel as if I would not know how to begin. I understand that there are quick fix techniques such as choral reading, whispering, and singing that automatically reduce stuttering. I am curious as to how you incorporate other things into therapy that do not automatically reduce this. Would you start with activities like choral reading, etc.? If so, how long would you wait before starting other more difficult activities where immediate success is not guaranteed?
