I really enjoyed reading this article! Each of the seven principles that were discussed were very educational and have helped me become more confident and aware of my future clients difficulties with stuttering. I was most drawn to the principle on helping people who stutter accept their stuttering. I agree that stuttering should not define the client and that we need to place more of a focus on helping the client accept their stutter. However, I also understand that such a task is easier said than done. I have met some individuals (especially teenagers)who stutter that are searching for a "cure" for their stuttering. Do you have any suggestions for discussing such a sensitive topic (there isn't a cure but there are techniques to help manage the stutter) with clients who stutter? Thank you.
