Focusing on Technique Contraindicated?

Thank you for contributing your article and thoughts on your Principles of Stuttering. While reading the second principle I asked myself "could a focus on technique be contraindicated for those who stutter?" My reasoning being: we are then focusing on the stutter, sometimes treating the stutter as our not-so-silent enemy. I can imagine a patient who gets so focused on using a technique over and over again that it stresses them to the point of more stuttering. I was wondering if you had any information on this. Thank you again for your time.
