Hi Kate, I know you enjoyed the visit from the Rhode Island NSA chapter. Jamie Rocchio, the leader of that group, is a good friend of mine. While you may not have had pizza, you ought have twisted her arm to take you out for lobster! We've done that several times, and she's really a hoot! <smile> .... I understand exactly what you mean when you say how much you learned from people who actually DO stutter. However to learn something really effectively it takes BOTH academic "book learning" and real world experience. My son learned this IN SPADES when he went into the Marine Corps to eventually become a jet fighter pilot. Without the fundamentals of physics and engineering - learned from countless HOURS of pounding the books - he could not have begun to fly the jets he now does. (See my home page for some good jet fighter pictures!) .... What you learned in that class that day with the NSA people is EXACTLY the point of my paper. The more we can get students and stutterers together, the more we learn and grow together. It's one of the best win-win situations I've ever seen. And, oh yeah, we have FUN in the process! <laughing> .... I wish you the best in school and in your career, Kate. I hope our paths cross some day! .... Russ
