Thanks for your question Naomi. Measurement of anxiety in very young children is problematic (it is also problematic for adults.) It may be that we will never know whether social anxiety/heightened interpersonal sensitivity contributes to the origin of stuttering behaviour. My key message is we should distinguish stuttering behaviour (dysfluency)from the negative behaviour attitudes and emotions that accompany it (often).
