This paper gives a good description of how it is important to increase the self-esteem of CWS - especially younger children (before mioddle/H.S. ages). This is so that the CWS' increase in self-esteem will more than likely have a positive affect on their speaking and assertiveness with speech. With these younger children who stutter, do you also recommend using some sort of stuttering modification/fluency shaping techniques as well; or primarily focus on the self-esteem of the child who stutters?
