Children are supposed to take different roles in class in Japanese schools, ranging from helping at a library or caring for animals, which doesn’t normally require a lot of speaking, to making announcements on school broadcast. However, all the roles require some communicative skills. Children can undertake whatever they can do, and I know some children who challenged school broadcasting.
