Nikki - Thank you for your comments. Taking the role of an even mildly severe PWS will give one the experience of doing without your fluency for a little while and make you appreciate something one would naturally take for granted. Another activity that can give one a similar experience is the scanning ahead for (feared) sounds and words that is so common for many people who stutter. Try, for example, speaking for several hours or in several situations to communicate without using words that begin with a particular letter or sound. In fact when I suggested to my students the other night in class that they try this one of the students told me that she saw an episode on the Simpsons where Homer had to make the case with his boss about why he should not be fired but he couldn't use words that began with "E". It would be a lot like a person with a covert form of stuttering avoiding words and would lead to some interesting forms of word finding, hesitations and a decreased flow of speech and information.
