Hi Jeff, thank you for your comments. I don’t think “perfect fluency” is a reasonable goal of therapy, because it’s simply impossible. Even “normal” people don’t have it. I like stuttering modification very much. It's very useful when there is a strong emotional reaction to stuttering. Stuttering modification puts the person in contact with his/her stuttering (something that many have permanently avoided) and this can be very therapeutic. I’m also an enthusiastic of fluent silent pauses, because they can be very effective to prevent stuttered disruptions.
