First I would like to thank you for your article. The discussion of fluency being a skill was very informative. I have never thought of fluency as being a task that is learned little by little. Obviously, I have learned about the development of speech but I have never thought to compare it to something such as arithmetic. I do have a question about disfluencies in other languages. Do you find that the same general ‘rules’ apply when looking at different languages? For example, it is more typical to demonstrate a prolongation on a vowel in English. Does this hold true to form throughout languages? Thank you again!
