Hi Tracy, I think the number one thing that allowed me to stand my ground with my boss is fear - fear that I would allow stuttering to win and someone's insensitive remarks to hurt me. I did not want that fear to win, so I dug in, and held my ground. I did not say what I really wanted, (what was on the tip of my tongue in anger) but I stayed calm, did speak and walked out with my dignity inteact. I think that lifetime of insecurity had formed a wall that was pushing me, "You can do it, Pam" and I trusted myself to believe it. I have not done role plays, that is really not my fave (!) thing to do, although I imagine it would be a useful therapy tool. --Pam
