Hi there! Thanks for your questions. I will do my best to answer them for you. Depending on the age of the client, you might be just fine with describing the scenario verbally. I most often do that if I’m talking to a teenager or an adult. In fact, I haven’t used this activity with a school-aged child, but will use the analogy with the child’s parents to help them understand the experience more. When I do use the concrete experience of actually holding and hiding the grapefruit (either having the client do it or model it myself) can be done in a relatively short period of time. There isn’t really a need to have someone carry it around all day – just experiencing it for a few minutes will likely bring the message home. Hope that helps! Thanks again for your questions!
