I’ll try to answer each of your questions in turn as best I can. 1. The best place to find out about any future plans for lowering the cost of the device would be through the manufacturers, Janus Development Group. I can’t speak for them on that matter. However, to my knowledge, the cost has remained fairly consistent over the past few years. 2. I’ve heard of (and personally know) some people who successfully got the SpeechEasy paid for or at least part of the cost defrayed by Vocational Rehabilitation. I image that the voc rehab policies will vary by state, so you may want to contact your state’s office if you’re interested in pursuing that. 3. Regarding your last question, none of our subjects reported any side effects while wearing the device that could be considered harmful. One subject experienced some impacted ear wax when she first began wearing the SpeechEasy, but that happens occasionally with hearing aids and devices of that sort and can be remedied very easily.
