Thanks for sharing your findings with us. I don't think I would ever be interested in using such a device. My stutter, annoying as it sometimes, is not something I want to treat using an electronic device. I remember two summers ago I participated in a research trial conducted by Greg Snyder (who is one of the experts in the "Prof is In" section). He was trying to see if a simple and very inexpensve DAF device would work, using a simple Ipod. He called us by phone, and we had to say letters of the alphabet in to the phone, which he recorded and then uploaded into the ipod. We then had to agree to wear the Ipod for 3 hours every day for 3 weeks, ans use it while speaking. We reported the results to him, and we did reading samples over the phone. I found it very awkward - it was weird hearing my own voice chanting in my ear while speaking. I don't remember feeling it improved my fluency at all, but some people did, and do, find it useful. I was very impressed that Dr Snyder was interested in researching a less expesive option. I remember feeling "very cool" with my ipod on during the trial, as I had never used one. It was a good conversation starter too, and prompted several discussions about my stuttering and why I was wearing it. Thanks for sharing!! --Pam
