I, too, participated in Greg’s research project a couple years ago and applaud him for trying to develop a more affordable fluency aid. For me, wearing the device wasn’t awkward but, rather, I found that I quickly tuned out the sound of my drawling voice in my ear whenever I put it on. It didn’t improve my fluency noticeably, but as you say, it was useful for some people. On the plus side, I did get a nice iPod shuffle for my troubles! :)
