Our subject in the single case study had participated in the earlier group project and found that the benefits of the device wore off over time for him. However, he was able to maintain his fluency gains once traditional treatment was implemented while he continued wearing the device. This suggests that, for him, combining the two was much more effective than the SpeechEasy by itself. Now, whether or not this is the case for all/most/some SpeechEasy users, and what type of treatment pairs best with the device, are questions that still need to be addressed.
