Just to clarify, I believe you’re referring to the subject from the single case study, not multiple individuals. That subject was a 19 yr-old adult and, as such, his parents were not present during therapy. A goal of the therapy was for him to transfer his techniques outside of the clinic and employ them in daily life, but his parents lived several hours away and were not heavily involved in transfer activities other than periodic phone contact to update them on his progress.
