As stated in the paper, the PSI is a self-report checklist that catalogues a person’s behaviors related to struggle, avoidance, and expectancy to stutter. Ideally, we would like to see a lower (i.e., improved) score on the PSI after one has worn the SpeechEasy for a while. This would indicate a reduction in undesirable behaviors related to stuttering. The subject did report that pseudostuttering helped him to decrease his fear of stuttering, but he did not list it among the techniques he found MOST helpful with the device.
