Jack, I also agree with the two Joes. I would also make the point that we should use the literature as a guide to our practice, but at the same time we should be assessing the individual needs of the client. The literature will guide us to what are the best methods for the masses, but a complete and comprehensive evaluation will lead to what is the best method for the individual. A rule of thumb that I use for my clients is summarized in this little verse, "Give the client everything they need to be successful.....and nothing more." What it means is that sticking with one approach may work at times, but it may add extra layers of unnecesaary time, effort, money, and other resources on behalf of the client, their family, and the clinician. Keep lots of tools in your toolbox, and use the ones that best fit the job in front of you. Thanks, John T.
