Pam, many SLPs have pointed out that children with articulation difficulties (problems producing specific sounds) who also stutter may require special care during speech therapy. For example, some SLPs have noticed that stuttering can be exacerbated during articulation drills. Some SLPs suggest focusing on articulation only when it appears to be a greater issue than the stuttering.
