This was a great nugget article. As an adult PWS, who for years kept my stutering covert, I often have great difficulty discussing some of the stuff I do or feel relating to my stuttering. Part of that is related to the fact that my stuttering now is more overt outside of the clinic setting. And the clinicians I work with have never seen that, so sometimes I feel as if my feelings are minimized due to how I am viewed in group or in the privacy of the therapy room. So it is very important for the clinician to get the pws to open up about the stuttering experience, and for the client to get over the feelings of embarassement. I find myself squeezing one eye shut when I get caught in a stutter. I know I do that, but it never comes up in therapy, because it doesn't happen there. Your thoughts on that? --Pam
