Denial is-like you basically said-a way for one to protect themselves from feeling emotional pain. As a parent of a child with a disabiltiy, I understand the mourning process-including denial- that occurs when one has come to the realization that something is 'wrong' with his/her child. How should clinicians handle a parent's denial when a child is clearly stuttering? Thanks for your paper!
