Kelly, I can't think of a specific study at the moment but in our clinic we often treat children would be classified as ESL in one language. What we do is track the second language to see if there is a transfer of fluency when fluency is established in one language; if not, we may decide to continue the therapy in the second language to increase stutter free speech. In my experience that is often not necessary. We treat in two languages when 2 languages are spoken at home and both parents want to participate in the therapy. I am talking here mostly about preschool age children
