I am in private practice and worked in a rural area for years. Both income and education differed widely between people in the area. I had parents a number of times actually send young children to me for assessments without coming themselves. Because I tended to get children who had not gotten adequate therapy in the school system according (usually to the parents) to s1;0comeone or I got children that the local school clinicians were not comfortable working with, I often had less than happy parents to begin with. Where I had my biggest problem was with parents who absolutely refused either to be involved in therapy or to reinforce therapy at home. How do you feel is the best way to handle such situations? Obviously there is no single good answer to this ;1;0but I would be interested in your thoughts.
