Hi, Ms. Shields. I agree with your article; individuals who stutter, or have any disability, need to have frequent communication partners involved in the treatment process. However, there are some cases in which parents are either too busy or do not seem to want to be involved in the process and think the SLP should be able to “fix” the problem alone. What is your suggestion for gently encouraging families to become active participants in their child’s treatment of stuttering?
