Thank you for this article. I am a Speech Language Pathologist in St. Paul and something you mentioned about working with spouses really resonated with me. As a profession, we still need to work very hard to work with parents and children so we are all on the same page. But as I think about the adults I work with, that spousal/significant other involvment is just as important. When I look back on the folks who responded best to therapy, the bulk of them brought their spouse to therapy after awhile. I work so hard to get parents on board with the therapy process, but I leave it up the adult PWS if s/he wants to bring the family into the process. Your article makes me think I should be more direct and assertive in encouraging full family support with the adults.
