Michael, Your observation about seeing better success for adults when a spouse or significant other is involved is a good one. I agree with you. However, I do think that your deferring to the client's wishes is really the best way to go for adults. And, even with children, I always ask their permission to bring parents on board directly. We can certainly encourage clients to involve family members. When I have an adult client who has opted not to involve other family members, I re-visit the question periodically, but I always try to honor their decision, regardless of my own feelings about it. I tell them that I'll be asking about it later, just in case they might reconsider; it is good to be upfront about that, I think. Thanks for posting your comments. Best wishes, Lynne
