Hi, thanks for your great comments. Yes, music therapy involves the use of live music. Sorry if I didn't spell this out clearly in the paper. In order to become board certified, the music therapist needs to have solid skills in voice, piano, guitar, music theory, music history, as well as the skills to use these clinically -- a solid performance background is needed to use music clinically, but the skills in using music clinically are quite different from regular performance skills.
