Yes, I'd definitely say that one of the more common applications of MT is for people with ASD. Particularly with people who are nonverbal, it's one of the best ways of reaching them. I think that it's usually easier for younger clients to fade from singing to speaking, just because their brains are more plastic and they have fewer hangups than we do. Especially with kids, the fading isn't even necessary, as the process of generating their own words in real time with musical support teaches the brain the skill of generating speech within a set timeframe, which is really what fluent speech is, right? I've seen improvement within a couple of months with kids.
