Yes, I think this sounds about right. (And I love hearing more about MIT from all you wonderful SLP folks!) I often get questions from professionals in other disciplines who have minimal understanding of neurology, and they want to know simply whether music actually helps with learning skills. My simple answer is to ask them how they learned the ABCs. I am a person who doesn't have any learning disabilities or processing issues, and I still resort to humming it under my breath pretty much any time I'm flipping through a dictionary or filing cabinet.
