It is only to be expected that the majority of stutterers who regard stuttering as a gift have come to that conclusion through their involvement in stuttering self-help groups like the NSA and others. All the present openness about stuttering and camaraderie among stutterers was almost non-existent fifty years ago because there were no self-help groups. Times do change, and progress is made!
