As a child I often thought that it must have been caused by the discipline imposed by my father! Later, I realized that two of my siblings did not stutter, so the reason had to be something else. One of my uncles stuttered. So, I guessed it may have to do something with genes, I may have inherited. Now, having read a little bit of scientific papers on stammering, I believe what SLPs believe. Like most Asians, I too believe that acts of indiscretion in past lives may result in disability or suffering in this. No, I never held bilingualism responsible for my stutter.
