I found this article to be extremely informative because I was not aware of the several concomitant disorders that exist with stuttering. In fact, as I completed my observation hours as an undergraduate student, I have not yet viewed a client with a concomitant disorder, but I am sure as the time progresses, I will be assigned a client with such a disorder. This article sufficiently outlined valuable tips for clinicians, clients, and even parents - who play a large role in successful treatment. A valuable piece of advice that I took with me from this article, was the idea that one should not be "afraid to refer." As a clinician, it is our responsibility to make rational decisions on whether or not we need other professionals in the picture. In addition, I viewed Moya-Moya disease on the list of disorders, diseases, and differences that exist with fluency disorders - what exactly is Moya-Moya disease and is it a common concomitant disorder with stuttering?
