Susan, Although I do not know of studies directly related to that topic, I do think that stuttering is higher in some areas of the country. As a matter of fact, living in Southwest Louisiana myself, makes me think this is the case. SW Louisiana is a unique place, but many of the families that live here today have lived here for many years. This is not the case in most areas of the U.S. We are indeed a transient people! However, since we know that stuttering runs in family groups (as do some other disorders, as you mentioned), there may be pockets, like SW Louisiana, the outer banks in North Carolina, or other areas, where stuttering may have a higher prevalence. Good question, and good luck on your test today! John Tetnowski
