Your questions are very thought provoking. Let me attempt to answer them. I am not sure if stuttering is more prevalent in acquired or congenital conditions. The research into the congenital conditions is now starting to become more common. I refer you to Van Borsel and Tetnowski (2007) for a decent outline of the major congenital disorders. In addition, I am keenly aware of the concomitance of emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, conversion reaction, OCD, SAD, and many other conditions that accompany stuttering. I think the key is to enter wach situation with an open mind. You seem to have a very good grasp on that already. I wish you a long, successful, and happy career! Sincerely, John Tetnowski
