Loved this article - I could relate to so many parts. In your concluding comments, you wrote: "Your stuttering is an important and unwanted part of your life. It has caused you pain." This has indeed been my experience. I have been covert for most of my life, and have only recently starting coming out of my closet. The stress of hiding and keeping such a huge secret has profoundly impacted my life. I am finally dealing with it - talking about it, writing about it - and I am amazed with how much better I feel about myself, by simply choosing to let this part of my life occupy the same air I breathe and thoughts I think. Thank you for finding a way to help people who stutter admit that stuttering is an important part of our life. Was there a defining moment for you, when this all finally began to make sense? -- Pam
