Dave - Don't know if you remember me or not. I do remember you from the days of the National Council on Stuttering down Chicago way. The memories of experiences and interactions with the NCOS members is a extremely positive one! I'll never forget the 1st NCOS event I attended where Dr. Gene Cooper was the featured speaker. Just SUPERB! One of the most informative, insightful and best written pieces I've ever read regarding Wendell Johnson and Charles Van Riper was your piece entitled: "Wendell Johnson and Charles Van Riper: A Remembrance of Them and Their Era" - You convey the essence of them as human beings and their unequaled skills as leaders in the area of stuttering. Your recounting of the "nutshell difference" between how the two looked at therapy is gold! ( I would have liked to have seen the interaction of Johnson with Van Riper as his therapist!!! ) An enjoyable "history of the field" read...Whenever I read that article or share it with future professionals at workshops, I think of the Era of the true GIANTS of the field. Through my eyes, you are one of them! Thank you for all you have done for those of us who stutter! God Bless!
