Thanks for agreeing to have your paper appear at this conference. I noted that your paper was originally published in 1991. As I read it, I found myself thinking that, while we've learned quite a bit about stuttering in the last 15 or more years, we've barely scratched the surface. I appreciate the way you sum up some of the major factors that are likely to be involved in the success of treatment for stuttering, all of which are still quite pertinent to this moment in time. The latter part of your paper gives such wonderful encouragement for anyone who stutters to work to their strengths and gain a balanced view of themselves and their speech.
