I thought a very interesting section of this article was related to the idea that stuttering can be cured through a "dose" of therapy, which equals a few weeks. This is commonly used among behavioral modification therapists, which does not focus on cognition or emotion. I believe that it is important to understand as a future clinician that therapy should be a lifelong goal in which attitudes are changed, and emotions regarding disfluency are improved. It is also essential to understand that many disfluent speakers may be unwilling to endure a long slow treatment process, and most expect a quick recovery, or miracle cure. Although he emphasizes the importance of all types of stuttering therapy, it is interesting to note the differences between behavioral modification and long term therapy.
