I've used these types of analogies and discussions even with very young ones -- 3 years and up! Kids of that age can certainly understand things like trains going fast and slow, tricycles going fast and slow, muscles being tight and loose, coloring with their muscles too tight vs. too loose, etc... It's not the first thing I do in therapy necessarily, but it can definitely be adapted to kids of all ages. S
