Hi Carolyn - Thanks for the post. You DEFINITELY have to work on generalization...it won't happen on its own. That's one of the biggest challenges in treatment for any disorder, really, but for stuttering in particular. Using the "just right" rate helps to facilitate generalization, though, because it focuses on a rate of speech that is easier for the child to manage and maintain. Plus, it's easier for the parents to model. So, although generalization still takes work, this makes it a bit easier. Great question! Thanks S
