Hi Alan! Great to hear from you. Yes, we do a lot of recording in therapy...I tend to use it more with school-age and older clients... Not as much with the preschoolers, where they get more fascinated with the camera and the fact that they're "on TV" rather than the specific aspect of their speech that I want them to try to attend to. With the older ones, though, we use video and audio to help them desensitize to the pause. I also do it "live" with a little game I call "the pausing game" in which we take turns pausing for longer and longer periods of time just to get comfortable with the silence. At first, it drives them nuts, but over time they learn to tolerate brief pauses in their speech. This helps to slow the whole system down and brings them back to the goal of "just right." Thanks again for the post! S
