Though our graduate program, community and country as a whole may have a significantly larger wealth of information about students here who stutter, I find that perceptions of PWS are universal in a sense. Despite our research, we have yet to determine a definite etiology for the disorder - something that makes it more difficult to explain and thus, more difficult to understand as a person who does NOT stutter. I thought your findings were interesting that 99% of teachers surveyed would act as if nothing were wrong with the PWS speech - and yet these were not the experiences of any of the individuals interviewed. Even with the increase in studies in recent decades here in the U.S., I still find that teachers are apt to finish students sentences and demonstrate impatience on occasion. I do not mean to imply that I believe education is not key to building more positive classroom atmosphere for PWS, as I truly believe it is. I have high hopes that your study will spark interest in the topic in Kuwait and serve to further future research there. Lastly, I wonder what the relationship is between teachers who have had experience with PWS and positive classroom engagement. I would be curious to see if prior experiences serve to benefit PWS in these classrooms in the future. Thank you for sharing your study!
