I am glad to hear that your program is emerging. Two things came to my mind while reading your research. One is a discussion I've held with other individuals being trained as SLPs. We discussed the need for an interdisplinary course. One that educates teachers specifically about the services (such as speech therapy) that are available for their students, since they are often the ones to refer our clients. The other thing that came to my mind was a comment an education professor made to me regarding teachers. That teachers often teach the way they were taught, even if it is not the most effective way to teach and even if it was not what they learned while going to school to become a teacher. Taking into consideration both conversations, I wonder what would be the best way to educate and change teacher behaviors, since they are obviously so influential. I imagine this would be especially difficult for a program just emerging. You probably have much that you want to accomplish!
