This article says it all. Thank you for writing this beautiful article, Alan. I agree that the only way to conquer stuttering is to change the belief systems that have developed around it. I have found Neuro Linguistic Programing most helpful in that regard. I found your comments about our internal filtering systems to be incredibly powerful. In the past, whenever evidence presented itself indicating that my stuttering didn't matter or that no one cared about my stuttering, I would completely discount it, and make up an excuse for how that could be. And, I would hold onto irrational beliefs that had never been supported by any sort of evidence. Without changing these beliefs, I do not believe I could achieve fluency solely with physical tools. I tried that for too long, but my irrational beliefs always got the best of me. I hope others out there realize the significance of your meaningful article, and take steps to follow in your footsteps.
