Hey, my friend. So you don't fear me. Well, you've never seen me angry. :-) Just kidding. But yes, fear is healthy, as it protects us, as long as it's for the right reasons. Because than we do something with it. Being afraid for the wrong reasons makes our steps so heavy, as we carry it along with us, every step we take. I've followed your steps and you really have lost a bit of your fear every time we meet. You are chosing your battles and take a smal step every time, which is the right way, as it's easier to conquer a mountain if you take one level at a time and reflect, while chosing new goals and tactics. You went from being totally silent about your stuttering to winning Toastmasters contests with stuttering being your topic! Now if that's not a perfect example on facing fears, I don't know what is. That's the power of being amongst people who stutter, that's what self help is about. The fear will always be there, but as long as you look it in the face and either turn your back on it, or fight it, or keep on a leash as you say, you're the one who's in charge. And, as you say, we all have fears. Watch fluent speaking people talk and you wil see many of them stutter, shake and sweat. It's not the no 1 fear for nothing! I wouldn't say we're gifted though. (See http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/isad11/papers/gift11/blom11.html But we're experienced ike few others, facing challenges every day. Looking forward to read about your path, facing your fears, at one of the next online conferences. And fear no more. I'll save you a dance next time we meet. :-) Keep talking! Anita
