hi M... I think that you addressed the right very basic questions. I think that stuttering is a stress syndrome and that it prevails now in virtually every country in the world (not only in big cities) where the individual is uprooted and does not feel safe. I read once that in indigenous cultures (alas very view remaining) where people have enough and feel safe and secure there is no stuttering. I agree with you that mediation, aiming changing people's minds to feel more secure in a stressful society is difficult. But there is no alternative to mindfulness. As Hamlet said, we have the choice "to bear those ills we have or to take arms against a sea of troubles..."
