Judith, I think the thread that I most often see running through the lives of those who achieve, especially if they stutter or have some other socially unacceptable or "abnormal" situation to have to deal with is that those people do what they do ultimately for themselves and the "kick" the get out of it as well as the self learning. Of course, those things lead to a drive to help clients but that drive must come from within and cannot be imposed on you from the outside. That is, I think, why people who do what needs to be done despite difficulties do it from internal motivation.
